This post is dedicated to my buddy Nick Parker, my long-time childhood friend who’s been working with me on a new EP from T. Boalt And The R&R titled The Brand New Old Ones. Nick and I first met in the second grade at Kent Primary School. We were sectioned off to read together and started talking. He told me that his oldest brother Chris is on a record playing with the Paul Butterfield Blues Band.

We ended up spending a lot of time together, especially since we were both drummers and both his parents and mine were artists. I spent many weekends at the Parker household. It was quite an experience for a young drummer like myself: drum sets in every room; jazz radio on 24/7 emanating from little speakers wired mysteriously all over the house. On any given Friday or Saturday, any one of the five brothers would show up for a family visit (only one brother, Jeff, didn’t play drums). Chris would come back from a tour of Japan and say “look at all these drums the Japanese were trying to give to me!”, or Eric would come home from a tour with Ian Hunter Band or Steve Winwood. But Nick – not to be outdone – went on to play with Rick Derringer, Todd Rundgren, and Randy VanWarmer to name a few. Not bad for a bunch of guys from Carmel, NY!

You can also hear his playing on such as tracks as That’s Mister To You and and She Won The War from T. Boalt’s Those Years album. Here’s to Nick, an official member of the T. Boalt And The R&R. Love ya brother!
